Frequently asked questions

How long will my order take to arrive?

All Gunaa pieces are made to order using handwoven silk created from scratch in Assam, then tailored and finished by skilled Assamese artisans.
Please allow 4–8 weeks for production and delivery. Shipping times may vary depending on your location. Further details can be found on our Shipping page.
You will receive an update once the silk has been woven, and another after tailoring has been completed and your order is being prepared for dispatch. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking details.

What is your return/exchange policy?

Because each Gunaa piece is made-to-order and woven specifically for you, all sales are final unless the item received is incorrect.

Gunaa ships worldwide. Shipping times vary by destination.
International orders may be subject to local customs duties and taxes, which are the responsibility of the customer.
See our Shipping page for further information.

Can I request customizations?

Garments that are not listed as one-size-fits-all can be made to your measurements for a personalized fit.
Our abayas are designed as one-size-fits-all, but you may request adjustments to the length.
Customizations are limited to size and fit only; changes to the design, fabric, or embellishments are not available. Please ensure all measurements provided are accurate, as each piece is tailored specifically for you.

Are all Gunaa silks authentic?

Yes. All our silks are GI-certified and sourced directly from skilled Assamese weavers.
For more on GI certification and our textiles, visit our dedicated Silks page.

Are all Gunaa garments made from handwoven silk?

Yes – every Gunaa piece is crafted from 100% handwoven Assamese silk (muga, eri, or paat), woven by artisan weavers before being tailored into garments.

How do I care for my garment?

Like a living garden, your Gunaa silk requires gentle maintenance to preserve its beauty throughout its lifetime.

Eri and Paat Silk: We recommend dry cleaning only, and only when needed.
Muga Silk: Can be hand-washed gently with a mild detergent.
Metallic Gunaa Threads: These delicate threads may occasionally unravel; a simple snip will restore them.
Storage & Maintenance: Occasionally unfold and air out your garment to prevent permanent creases. Each purchase includes a breathable cotton garment bag for the storage and protection of your silk.

What does 'Gunaa' mean?

In Indian philosophy, gunaa is the thread that links form and essence to weave reality.  In Assam, gunaa is the luminous thread woven into our silk.
GUNAA - the two, intertwined.
